SIBU, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The government is concerned that non-communicable diseases and obesity are now the main health scourge affecting the people.
Non-communicable diseases (NCD) may be chronic diseases of long duration and slow progression, or they may result in more rapid death such as some types of sudden stroke. They include autoimmune diseases, heart disease, stroke, many cancers, asthma, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, alzheimer's disease, cataracts, hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, osteoarthritis, arteriosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, anaemia and more.
Average 7 out of 10 Malaysian suffer from at least one of the non-communicable disease (NCD). From the survey report of National Health Morbidity they are very common, poorly controlled in the community, costly to treat and of course deadly.

The incidence of NCD in Malaysia is frightening.
